At first glance, turning a colorful ball into a single solid color sounds easy enough. That was my first thought too, until a few poorly placed shots left me without enough balls to finish the level.
In Ball Paint 3D, each puzzle gives you a 3D shape made up of smaller colored balls. Shoot your current ball at a matching section to change the connected pieces and gradually bring the entire shape under one color. Clear the shape before your limited supply of shots runs out, and you can move on to the next level.
Since the model can be rotated freely, the first target you spot is not always the right one. Some colors may be tucked around the back or hidden behind larger clusters. I usually give the shape a full spin before taking a shot. It takes an extra second, but it can save you from wasting a ball and restarting the level.
Ball Paint 3D keeps the rules simple and puts the focus on observation and shot order. The early puzzles are easy to settle into, but things get trickier once the colors are broken into smaller sections. It is a laid-back 3D puzzle game that works well when you have a few minutes to kill, while still giving you enough to think about.
