If you have ever spent hours messing around in pixel survival worlds or chaotic multiplayer mini-games from emolingo games, you will feel right at home with BoomCraft on Woko Games. This time around, the studio takes the classic Bomberman formula, drops it into a familiar blocky universe, and throws goofy Steve and Alex into a fiery arena to settle the score with stacks of TNT.
The battlefield sits on a floating platform over bubbling hot lava, bordered by sturdy red block walls and a grid packed with destructible wood planks and unbreakable blocks. You can pick between two simple modes: run a solo match against the AI (Player vs Computer) or crowd around one keyboard with a friend for local bragging rights (Player vs Player). The real chaos starts once you blow up blocks to reveal random power-ups: extra hearts to patch up your health, fire icons to boost your blast radius, boots for extra speed, and bonus bombs (TNT +1). Things get downright hilarious with game-changing drops like snowflakes that freeze your rival, ender pearls that switch player positions on the fly, and totems that grant a full 15 seconds of invincibility.
Actual matches are a lot sweatier than just dropping a bomb and running away. The computer bot is surprisingly sneaky, it hunts down power-ups and loves trapping you in corners. During my runs, I had to balance blasting wood for health drops while watching my back in the narrow hallways. At one point, I got greedy chasing down a teleport pearl, and the bot instantly dropped a TNT block right behind me. Missing my turn by a split second took a huge bite out of my health bar. The pacing ramps up fast, and one accidental button tap can leave you boxed in with your own explosive, laughing in disbelief as your character gets blown off the board.
Visually, the Minecraft inspiration hits you immediately. From the green grass dirt blocks and red brick walls to the cracked magma tiles and wooden planks, everything is built with that chunky, retro voxel charm. Even the characters match the meme-heavy tone, starring a goofy, tongue-out Steve in blue and an orange-haired Alex duking it out over a glowing sea of lava. The bright red TNT blocks with their bold white lettering will definitely put a smile on your face if you have logged hours in sandbox worlds.
This game is practically built for pulling a buddy over to share a keyboard and mash keys until somebody gets blasted into the lava. Screenshot your blowout win at the top of the screen, drop it into your group chat, and get ready for some salty rematches.
