Watching retro wave shooter clips flood your social feed naturally triggers that itch to grab a starter pistol, plant your feet in a pitch dark arena, and just hold down the trigger. You do not need a beefy rig or a massive download to get that fix, because GunZone on Woko Games drops you straight into an unapologetic retro survival showdown directly through your web browser.
This first person shooter keeps things direct, letting you jump straight into Horde Mode from the title screen. You spawn inside a sprawling arena walled in by stone battlements underneath a pitch black sky. The only objective is staying alive against encroaching waves, kicked off by a bottom tracker setting an opening goal of 15 kills. You spawn with 100 hit points and a standard sidearm loaded with 15 rounds, backed by infinite reserves that let you blast away freely, though managing your reload windows on the move is what actually keeps you breathing.
Taking down hostiles stacks your P currency on the top counter, which you can spend on fire support over at the Gun Shop. The rack features five distinct firearms with varied damage profiles and cycle speeds, starting with your default handgun, a 250 point shotgun, a 750 point submachine gun and sniper rifle, up to a 1000 point top tier assault rifle. Whenever your health pool takes a beating, you can drop 150 points on a medkit to instantly patch up 50 percent of your bar. The biggest hazard is the sheer emptiness and darkness of the arena, where swarms flanking from multiple blind spots will quickly rattle your aim and wipe out your run before you can recover.
It is easy to pick up but surprisingly punishing to master, making it a great bite sized palate cleanser to see how many waves you can outlast before going down.
