description Description

NOW, DAY, and HOUR are easy enough to recognize on their own, but spotting them in a crowded letter grid is another story. You can scan the right spot several times without noticing anything, then wonder what you were looking at when the answer finally clicks. Word Search Time on Woko Games is an HTML5 word search game that challenges you to find every word on the list before time runs out. You don’t have to guess the answers or come up with words yourself, since everything you’re looking for is listed on the right side of the screen. You just need to find each word in the grid and drag through its letters in the correct order. That sounds relaxing enough until one short word has you stumped and the countdown keeps moving.

The first level gives you a grid with 10 columns and 6 rows, along with eight words to find. DAY, NOON, DUSK, and DAWN make the opening puzzle feel a little like a vocabulary exercise about time, although you’ll soon be more concerned with finding the letters than brushing up on your English. Words can run horizontally, vertically, or diagonally in any direction, so sticking to the usual left-to-right reading pattern is an easy way to overlook an answer. A D near the bottom of the grid could be the start of a word running upward. Once you spot a word, drag from its first letter to its last. A correct selection gets a green line through it, and the matching entry on the list receives a check mark. The letters have to sit next to one another in a straight line, so finding the right letters nearby won’t help if you have to turn a corner to connect them.

The biggest time sink often comes after you’ve found a few words and start checking the same familiar patches of the grid over and over. You spot the first letter and think you’re onto something, only to discover that the last letter doesn’t match. Rather than staring at the whole board and waiting for a word to jump out, it helps to pick one missing answer, locate its first letter, and check the surrounding directions. That gives your search some structure, especially when the clock starts making you impatient. If you’re stuck, the Show Word button highlights the letters of a word you haven’t found yet. Seeing the answer laid out also shows you which direction you overlooked, instead of leaving you to keep circling the same area. Your score appears below the grid, while later levels start out locked and introduce layouts that call for a closer look.

Most of the screen is devoted to white letter tiles with blue borders, and the large capital letters are easy to read against the dark background. Keeping the word list on the right lets you glance over to check a spelling without having to memorize every answer at once. The check marks become particularly useful toward the end of a puzzle, when you can focus on whatever is still missing. Finding a long word on a diagonal feels satisfying, but sometimes the real sticking point is a short word that refuses to show itself. You know how it’s spelled, you’ve checked every row, and you’re starting to wonder whether you misread the list. Then you look from bottom to top, and there it is. Those moments give the game its charm: a small change in how you scan the board can solve something you’ve been stuck on for ages. The clock is still ticking, though, so save the celebration until you’ve found the last word.
